TCM Looks Towards 2009
We are looking forward to the
tri season of 2009. Members are already registered for Wildflower, Escape from Alcatraz, Vineman, Ironman Arizona and others. We had a great 2008 with participation in Santa Barbara, Ice-breaker, Sacramento International Tri, Napa Sprint, San Jose International, Wildflower, Escape from Alcatraz, Vineman, Ironman Louisville, Santa Cruz Sentinel,Ultraman and many others. PRs were set by David, Todd, Mark, Andrew, and others. First timers included Renee’s mum and Mark’s wife & sister-in-law so well done to all of them. And TCM co-hosted the Vineman Showdown at Sundown.
There is a list of Norcal tris on our website, which we will soon update for 2009. Click here.

Successfull Escapes from Alcatraz
On Sunday about 2,100 crazy athletes, including TCMers Gary, Eric, Mark, David, Marlene & Andrew, jumped off the SF Belle into 55 degree water for the start of the race. We had been told to aim for Sutro Towers (a huge radio mast far in the distance) and let the current do the rest. The water was relatively smooth (compared to last year anyway) except for some spots where it felt a bit like being in a tumble dryer!
Thousands of people were lining the swim exit, and finding my shoes was a breeze. A volunteer even helped me remove my wettie and put it in the bag - valet service. I felt a lot more confident on the bike this year and as a result had much more fun out there.
The run was as brutal as ever and the sand ladder almost did me in. Coming back along Chrissy Field was a welcome relief. Congrats to everyone who took part, it was a totally fun race. -Andrew
TCMers at Sacramento International Sunday, April 27th, there were 4 triathletes representing TriClub Marin at the Sacramento International Triathlon. Mark, Todd, Marlene and David enjoyed gorgeous weather, a cool fresh water swim in the Sacramento river and flat fast bike and run courses on River Road right along the river bank. David achieved a PR for Olympic distance races.

The Training Corner There is a great article by Mark Allen in Triathlete Magazine (online), titled "Fixing Your Weakest Link". I replicated it here.
